During the time I operated the taxi and
limousine services I decided I needed a central headquarters for
dispatch. As long as I was dispatching on a 24-hour basis I might as well have
the income from a 24 hour
answering service. So, I started Santa Barbara Telephone Answering Service.
Let's take inventory:

At this point I had established five different
companies. Some people today, call this multiple-streams of income. I call it
COMPLIMENTARY BUSINESSES due to the fact that each business compliments, in some
way, the other
businesses that are being established.
Think about it, most people have a hard time
making one business work. How are they going to make 2 or 3 or 4
different businesses work? Example: Real Estate, the Stock Market, and some
other business.
In my case, all of the businesses I handled
were in the area of TRANSPORTATION and all complimented each other.
This made it easier to keep track of what was going on and to keep the
businesses operating at a profit.
I am very tight with my money and didn't want
to spend money to hire someone to answer the phones
so I decided to live at my office. I actually had two huge offices ( next to
each other ) and I had plenty of room.
My wife was a little put out, yet I convinced
her that it was going to bring in more money and this was
the way I needed to operate these businesses.
No more commute time. No more distractions. My
wife would visit me on Friday nights after she got
off work and everything was great.
Whenever I wanted something to eat I would send one of my taxi's to pickup whatever I wanted.
Life was great! You'd be amazed at how easy it
is to live at your home, work at your home
and only leave your home, when you want to...
During this time I developed three additional businesses:
DOCTOR DETAIL
( auto detailing service )
SANTA BARBARA CHAUFFEUR SERVICE
( our drivers - drive your car and take you wherever you want to go )
BUSINESS CARDS OF SANTA BARBARA
( this also included a promotional service )
All in all I developed eight ( 8 ) different (
complimentary ) businesses which grew into
millionaire status in just over seven years.
So, here I was operating eight different ( complimentary ) companies at a huge profit and loving every minute of it...
This lasted thirteen ( 13 ) years and I finally
sold all eight companies, got divorced and moved down to Los Angeles.
Originally being from Chicago Illinois I liked large cities, Santa Barbara is a
small city and thus my move.
At the 10th year I had already started doing research for living to 150 and beyond, yet, that's another story.

compliment the one before it and

resell an existing client than it is
